Institutional Asset Management

Stacey Braun Associates, Inc. was founded in 1977 for the primary purpose of providing asset management services to labor-management pension funds, union and corporate organizations as well as individuals. In 1977 Stacey Braun‘s assets under management total approximately $60 million. Today the firm manages over $4.5 billion. Our growth has been primarily derived from investment manager searches and referrals based upon our investment performance.

Stacey Braun is an independent entity and is 100% employee-owned.

We manage money for institutional clients as well as individuals. Institutional clients include:
Taft-Hartley Funds: Pension, Welfare, Annuity, and Supplemental Benefit Funds • Corporations • State and Local Government Employee Benefit Funds.

As a result of our history and experience, we understand the differences that must be taken into account when managing different types of funds; the investment objectives of a pension fund are very different than those of a welfare fund.

As a result of Stacey Braun’s long history of managing Taft Hartley Pension Funds since 1977, we are uniquely qualified to manage monies received under the Special Financial Assistance Program as part of the American Rescue Plan.

Stacey Braun is a registered investment advisor into the investment advisors act of 1940, as amended and excepts designation as a fiduciary under ERISA.

Investment Strategies

Since our founding in 1977, Stacey Braun has managed fixed income, equity and balanced portfolios.

We specialize in separate account management. A team of Portfolio Managers is responsible for the construction and management of each portfolio. Stacey Braun works with clients to create appropriate Investment Guidelines and Objectives based on the client’s liquidity needs and risk tolerance. Each portfolio is invested in accordance with its specific Investment Guidelines and Objectives.

Equity

Stacey Braun manages Core Equity, Large-Cap Growth, and Dividend & Income Growth Equity Portfolios

Stacey Braun utilizes a “sector neutral” bottom up equity strategy which closely aligns our sector weightings to those of the Benchmark Index. Our superior performance relative to the Benchmark has been achieved through stock selection and analysis. Our equity portfolios consist of a diverse group of stocks selected through fundamental and technical analysis. This analysis focuses on balance sheets, income statements, valuations (price to earnings ratios lower than their peers, price to earnings ratios lower than their respective growth rates), superior management as well as the particular security’s ability to meet or exceed revenue and earnings estimates. Securities that are chosen through this analysis are then compared to their peers before purchase.

The elimination of sector risk relative to the benchmark is the cornerstone of our strategy to outperform the market while exposing our portfolios to less risk and volatility.

Stacey Braun employs an active, flexible investment approach. Cash equivalents (US Treasury Bills or money markets) can be employed as defensive measures in times of declining equity markets.

Fixed Income

Core, Intermediate and Short-Term Fixed Income Portfolios.

Stacey Braun manages Core, Intermediate and Short-Term Fixed Income Portfolios.

The fixed income strategy is designed to provide safety of principal, predictable and stable income and possible capital appreciation. Stacey Braun utilizes a “top down” analysis to achieve this strategy, which is predicated on our economic forecasts and interest rate projections. Stacey Braun’s team of Portfolio Managers structures a portfolio, using high quality debt instruments (short, intermediate, and long term bonds) while adhering to a portfolio’s specific investment guidelines.

Security selection, buy/sell decisions, duration and yield curve positioning as well as sector weightings are also determined based upon our macroeconomic and interest rate projections.

Stacey Braun only purchases liquid, high quality securities. We have never utilized financial derivatives, ‘toxic” mortgage securities or high yield “junk bonds”.

The selection of corporate fixed income securities follows a comprehensive review of a particular issuer’s interest coverage ratio, capitalization ratio, and study of balance sheets and research reports.

Balanced

Maximize Your Portfolio’s Total Return

Stacey Braun’s goal in managing balanced investment portfolios is to maximize the portfolio’s total return by allocating assets between stocks, bonds and cash equivalents predicated upon economic, interest rate and financial market projections. This balanced strategy is based on an active, flexible discipline that utilizes the expertise and experience of Stacey Braun’s portfolio managers.
